Nittany Expresses Profound Appreciation to Tussey Mt
Nittany Greyhounds would like to express our profound appreciation to the organizers of the 24th Tussey Mountainback 50 Mile Relay and Ultramarathon, an annual footrace held in Central Pennsylvania's Rothrock State Forest.
Mike Caspar, the race founder and director, announced the October event's 2023 fundraising total of $9,528 in support of this year's beneficiary, Nittany Greyhounds, at the kennel in Port Matilda, PA, on Wednesday, November 29th.
"Partnering with the Tussey Mountainback has been a joy," said Bob Koch, president of Nittany Greyhounds. "It is especially fitting that all of the runners and their supporters taking part in the Tussey Mountainback race are helping us to serve retired racing greyhounds by caring for these gentle animals and finding loving "fur-ever" homes for them."
Having completed its 24th year, the Mountainback event hosts recreational and competitive teams and ultramarathon runners from throughout the region and beyond with events throughout the year. More than 80 ultramarathon runners and 43 relay teams registered for this year's event. "When we can provide an exciting event where people challenge themselves in such a picturesque natural setting as Rothrock State Forest and also help retired racing greyhounds find new homes, it's very special," said Casper. "And we're glad we could make this announcement at the kennel of Nittany Greyhounds, where so much wonderful care is provided every day."
