Greyhound Adoption in Central Pennsylvania
Nittany Greyhounds is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness for retired racing greyhounds and placing greyhounds into responsible, loving homes. We rely on the dedication and support of volunteers to help us carry out our mission. We are 100% donation-based. All proceeds go to medical expenses, transportation, adoption efforts, awareness and education.

Tussey Mountainback Chooses Nittany Greyhounds as 2023 Races Beneficiary
Nittany Greyhounds has been chosen as this year's Tussey Mountainback Race Beneficiary - All Funds raised will go to Nittany Greyhounds!
Here's how you can help.
The start and end of the big October race will be at the Tussey Mountain Ski Resort. Rain or shine, the race will go on.
We have been asked to participate in several ways: with greyhound meet & greets and as volunteers during the race and at the banquet the night before. Leading up to the big race will be six shorter "Tussey Teaser" races, all held in Centre County, and we need volunteers for those as well, including meet & greets with the runners.
We need volunteers for the Teaser races on 2/4, 3/4, 4/16, 5/6, 6/4 and 6/18, and the big race on 10/22, where we will need many volunteers. If you are available, please get in touch with either.
Ellen (ellen@nittanygreys.org) or Karen (karen@nittanygreys.org).
Additionally, we will be seeking sponsors, so if you know of a business that would like to get some great publicity for supporting us and the races, let us know.
We will honor the memory of Carl Undercofler, who passed away during a race, doing what he loved. Carl was a beloved volunteer and greyhound adopter, an avid cross-country runner who meshed his love of running and greyhounds.
Direct donations in honor of the event and Carl can be made here.

In 1997, Elaine and Joe Skidel adopted Lily, a tiny special needs greyhound that stole their hearts. They added a small kennel to their house and started the organization that is now Nittany Greyhounds. Adoptions were brisk throughout central Pennsylvania, events were numerous, and our volunteers were generous with their time and financial support.
Several years later, Elaine and Joe sold their home and left the area, but the board continued. It took six years to raise enough support for a down payment on a new kennel. With the help of Jo Hoy and Tom Cali, we were able to purchase our current home in 2008. Rooo Valley provides enough space for 15-20 hounds, which enables us to find homes for almost 100 greyhounds each year.
