Thanks for Supporting Nittany Greyhounds During Centre Gives

Thank you for all your support, greyt friends! Working together, we raised $15,000 for our greyhounds this year.

Your gifts will help injured/ disadvantaged greyhounds through our new fund, "Elaine's North Star Fund," in honor of our late founder, Elaine (Skidel) Oleksa.

GiG 2025 Wrap-Up

Thank You!

We are home, unpacked, and resting. But I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who supported us through GiG this year. It was one hurdle after another, but we made it work with our fantastic team of board members and volunteers!

We genuinely appreciate your support because, ultimately, YOU are the reason we are successful. We don't take your support for granted; we try to provide the most fun possible and keep everyone safe. We received many extra donations, which will help with our vast, unexpected costs. That helped A LOT!

We will have a GiG 26, which will most likely be in the Gettysburg area. We are working on everything and will announce our "new" plans once they are in place. The DATES WILL BE TENTATIVELY APRIL 23-26. Again, it's our typical weekend, but the exact dates and location are yet to be determined. We will let you know.

Thank you again for your support! We are looking forward to a refreshed and exciting GiG '26!

Battlefield Walk

The Motor Head Tour

Battlefield Walk

Battlefield Walk

8:00 AM Friday

Hancock Avenue

"The angel of death alone can produce such a field as was presented."

Many Gettysburg Battlefield Tours culminate at the Angle with a discussion of the repulse of Pickett's Charge. Few take much time to learn about the intense fighting just north of the Angle, where Pettigrew's Confederate Division, with the backing of two more brigades under General Isaac Trimble, struck the position held by Brigadier General Alexander Hays' Third Division of the 2d Corps. Hays' Division had marched to Gettysburg with 3,644 officers and men, but by July 3, more than 700 had been sent to repel an attack on East Cemetery Hill, and serious casualties on July 2 had further reduced the number of available effectives, including the loss of one of the commanders of the remaining two brigades. This walk will reveal the stories of the soldiers who valiantly defended this less-talked-about part of the Union line.

You can park in the paved lot just off Taneytown Road (near the Cemetery) or use the grass parking lot on the east side of Taneytown Road.

We will start at the Delaware State Monument, which is near the parking lot. From there, we will walk along the paved road to the north end of Hancock Avenue. There are several monuments in that area, many of which are seldom visited, but do have interesting vignettes behind them. The group will then proceed southward along Hancock Avenue and discuss the myriad monuments and events that occurred in the area, probably ending at the Angle, the climax of Pickett's Charge.
